Kremlin Dismisses Outcome of Ukraine Talks Held Without Russia

The Kremlin has dismissed the outcome of a series of high-level talks between Ukraine, Turkey, and the United States, saying that they were held without Russia's participation and therefore lack any meaningful significance.

No Breakthrough in Sight

The talks, held in Istanbul, aimed to discuss a potential peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia, but the parties failed to reach a breakthrough. The Kremlin has now made it clear that any negotiations must involve Russia directly.

"Futile Effort"

"This format is fundamentally flawed and cannot lead to any meaningful results," said Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov. "We have consistently stated that any talks on Ukraine should involve all parties concerned, including Russia."

Ukraine Rebuffs Russian Demands

Ukraine has refused to negotiate directly with Russia, citing its demands for concessions on issues such as the annexation of Crimea and the recognition of separatist regions in eastern Ukraine.

Turkey's Role

Turkey's involvement in the talks has been seen as an attempt to play a mediating role, but the Kremlin has expressed skepticism about Ankara's ability to influence Moscow.

US Calls for Diplomacy

The US has urged all parties to continue negotiating in good faith, saying that a peaceful resolution to the conflict is essential.

"We will continue to support Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity while also seeking a path forward that respects Russia's interests," said US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
