Senators Demand Answers from UnitedHealth After Massive Patient Data Breach
In a concerning development, a bipartisan group of U.S. Senators is accusing a major healthcare company of failing to properly notify patients after a devastating cyberattack compromised their personal data. According to a CNN report, Senators Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) have written a letter to UnitedHealth Group CEO Andrew Witty, demanding that the company "assume full and immediate responsibility" for informing patients and providers about the breach.
The incident in question occurred in February when a ransomware attack targeted Change Healthcare, a UnitedHealth subsidiary that processes medical claims.
